Last week RECAP:

Decibel Fest: It was great to play with so many different artists(5!) Sunday night's show at the Bad JuJu Lounge/Neumo's - was SUPER challenging. It really pushed me (in a good way!) The music ranged from INSANELY fast to INSANELY slow. Having never heard any of these artists before (I did go to their websites to get a feel for what they might play) - it was very challenging to improvise to. I played for 4.5 hours - straight. WHEW!

911 Media Arts' Annual Social: This event turned out great! I got to play with DJ Simon Houser and Hyasynth. They are so cool and such great people, that they made the whole night just a joy. It was fantastic to play in 911's movie theater and actually have people sit and WATCH! It threw me off at first, as normally, it's very rare anyone notices the visuals are being "performed" - but in this environment, people actually got into it and said many nice things to me during and afterwards. It was really a fun night. One of those nights where you say to yourself "hell yeah, this is why I do it!" And Simon, Hyasynth...you guys are great!

Jury Duty: Well, they pay a lot of lip service to what an "enriching" experience it is going to be, and you know what...they were right! To see people who DON'T want to be there, who have better things to do, and for most of us, this was a pain in the ass - to see all these people, that when the time came, step up and actually try their best to do a good job - well it makes you really proud. Forget about the whole trial thing and what the defendant was accused of - to see such a broad selection of people, actually give a shit - when it was their time, and I was just like them, hoping I wouldn't be selected - it was very cool. If we all could get along and TRY like this in "real life" - what amazing things we could accomplish. It's too bad it takes someone doing something WRONG to make you appreciate others. Ordinary people, just trying to do their best - is an amazing testament to the goodness in all of us.

WHERE:Neumos/Bad JuJu Lounge

It's shaping up to be a busy week - possibly FOUR shows this week (three for sure, awaiting confirmation on the fourth) - and on top of all that...JURY DUTY starting Wednesday! Yippee! I have no idea how I'm going to make it to the County Court House by 8:00am - I haven't had to be up that early, consistently, for nearly three years! OUCH! Can I get excused for being too tired?

Anyway, normal gigs at the See Sound on Friday & Saturday, plus a performance at the 911 Media Arts Center's yearly social on Thursday, and ... possibly a Sunday night slot at this year's Decibel Fest (got it penciled in - waiting to ink it) Whew!

VJ scobot turns 100!

Yep - this month (actually this Friday, the 8th of September) will mark my 100th VJ show. Maybe not a big deal to some, but for me, I feel very fortunate and grateful (and humbled, and LUCKY) to have reached this milestone. I figured that the average attendance at all of the events (and weekly gigs) that I have played at would safely be around 200 people per event, so...I guess that means I'll be playing for my 20,000th guest! That blows me away.

Thank you, again, to everyone who has asked me to VJ at their event - it's been an honor and a privilege. Here's to another 100 - Cheers!
