Watercolor sketchbook (selections)

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A few selections from a “sketchbook” of watercolors. Created: Winter 2012. Materials: Watercolors, India Ink, sometimes ink pens (though that didn’t always work the way I would have liked), on sketchbook paper. size: 5? x 7?

I received a watercolor paint set for Christmas in 2011. After wondering what to do with it, having flashbacks to bad High School era watercolor paintings, and feeling like I wanted to take a break from the acrylic paintings I was doing, I decided to just start messing around with them and see what happened.

Watercolor, ink pen

I tried to paint as fast and loose as I could – actually enjoying working “wet on wet” the more wet and messy the better! I tried going back in with markers to bring out details (later I stopped using markers and went with either India Ink or black watercolor). I discovered I LOVED white watercolor paint! (I BIG “No No!” from my school days, “real watercolor painters don’t use white!” – since I was not a REAL watercolor painter, what the heck, I’ll use it!)

Here are a few pages that I thought came out O.K.
